Kenor Safaris is a family-owned company established in Kenya in 1994.
The company is a member of the Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO). In 1995, Kenor Safaris established its own sales and customer service office in Norway for the Nordic market and is a member of the Travel Guarantee Fund.

Fred Arild Gyldenås
Owner, Travel Designer, Client Relations & Tour Leader
Fred Arild worked in Tanzania from 1992 to 1994 with the Norwegian Peace Corps in Usangi, in the Pare Mountains. He first climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in August 1992 and has since reached the summit several times via different routes over the years. He has also traveled extensively and spent long periods in Africa, gaining in-depth knowledge of East Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. In addition, he has extensive expertise in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique, Mauritius, and the Seychelles.
His favorite region is Ruaha in Tanzania, which he first visited as early as 1993. His greatest passion is combining safari experiences with activities—especially golf.
He has excellent knowledge of golf and the opportunities available at Kenor Safaris’ destinations.
Fred Arild travels extensively each year to stay updated on new developments and to personally quality-check the company’s destinations, lodges, camps, and hotels.
Rosemary Gyldenås
Owner, Travel Designer & Client Relations
Rosemary, with roots in the Mount Kenya region of Kenya, has worked in the travel industry since 1990, including positions at lodges in the Masai Mara and with Kenya Airways. She travels to Africa every year to stay updated and attends local travel trade fairs. She has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and is a passionate Africa expert, with special expertise in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Mauritius, and the Seychelles.
She has a deep appreciation for fine wine and cuisine, enjoyed in unique settings on safari and in beautiful natural surroundings. Rosemary places great emphasis on lodges and camps that deliver exceptional service and where staff genuinely connect with Kenor Safaris’ guests.
Her favorite regions are Matopos in Zimbabwe and the Okavango Delta in Botswana. She has a particular love for Rovos Rail and dreams of a journey from Cape Town to Dar es Salaam. She also enjoys playing a round of golf on some of Africa’s many outstanding courses.
Chris Adrian Gyldenås
Travel Designer, Client Relations & Operations
Chris Adrian grew up with Africa and took part in his first safari in Kenya and Tanzania at just two years old. Since then, he has traveled extensively to Kenor Safaris’ destinations, with a particular focus on the Seychelles and East Africa, carrying out inspections and quality assurance of lodges and camps. He has played golf on several courses in Kenya and dreams of a future journey with Rovos Rail, ending with a beach stay in the Seychelles.
Karsten Asak-Gyldenås
Web & Technical Consultant, Operations
Karsten lived in Tanzania for two years and attended the International School in Moshi. He has traveled extensively throughout East Africa and has also worked as a tour leader for Mount Kilimanjaro climbs. He is the company’s web designer and technical expert. A keen golf enthusiast, he has played many courses in both Kenya and South Africa.
He dreams of once again playing Fancourt Links and many of the other outstanding courses in South Africa. He also never turns down a great meal, a glass of South African wine, and a cigar in the Winelands—especially when shared with loved ones.
Sylvester Modest Tayari
Chief Kilimanjaro Guide
Sylvester began his career as a porter in 2000 and qualified as a Full Mountain Guide in 2006. He has successfully summited Uhuru Peak more than 700 times, and out of the 1,700+ climbers for whom he has served as Chief Guide, only 17 did not reach the summit. Sylvester is a highly positive and service-oriented Tanzanian who represents both his nation and his people in an outstanding manner.
We are extremely proud that Sylvester is our Chief Guide and a valued member of our team.
He is a family man with young children and enjoys spending as much time as possible with them when he is not leading Kenor Safaris’ Kilimanjaro expeditions.
Sylvester’s top priority is SAFETY — with his experience, knowledge, and expertise, you could not be in safer hands.
